FAQ

  • what vaccines do you require?

We only require proof of rabies vaccination or rabies titer.

We do NOT require that puppies or kitties have proof of rabies until it is recommended by their veterinarian. In fact, artepupp strongly encourages professional socialization to grooming and other forms of “puppy culture” long before they are old enough to receive a rabies vaccination.

  • what is the cost of your services?

All quotes are a rough estimate based on your pet’s coat-type, weight and behavior

  • when should my puppy have its' first professional grooming appointment?

9-12 weeks!! If you brought your puppy or kitty from a breeder, hopefully they have already done at least one introductory grooming session. We will continue to build upon those skills with short appointments, until your fur-baby has the endurance (mentally, physically and emotionally) for longer breed or coat specific appointments.

  • My dog is not friendly, can you groom them?

We believe all dogs can be groomed, with a mindful, consistent and positive handler. If your dog is not mentally, physically and emotionally ready for our services, please email kelsey@artepupp.com to set up an initial evaluation and we will formulate a training/behavior modification plan.

  • what is suite style grooming?

Our upscaled approach to grooming allows for each dog to be privately styled in their groomer’s suite, rather than a communal grooming floor. We believe giving both the dog (and groomer) their own enclosed space creates a calmer environment that reduces stress from other animals, dryers, and general salon hustle and bustle; allowing the groomer to focus fully on your pet’s needs and shorten the need for all day salon visits.

This method also promotes healthier habits for career longevity as groomers. Which of course, reflects in their ownership over a safer, more hygienic workspace; reduced exposure to high decibels, dander and other pests; personalized and more ergonomic workspace; and ability to bond with and enjoy the very creatures that brought us to this field in the first place.

  • why should cats be groomed separately from dogs?

When a cat is socialized regularly and appropriately to grooming, it is almost always not the service itself that is stressful to the cat.

Most cats spend their entire lives inside their house and exposed only to their human servants - ahem.. family- only to leave to go to the vet, groomer or be relocated. When do cats go to a grooming salon, they have to go in a carrier, in a car; smells and sounds reminiscent but still unfamiliar. So by the time a cat gets to a grooming facility parking lot, it may very well be agitated. Then they go inside, where everything smells like dogs, hears like dogs, looks like dogs, and is most likely set-up to groom dogs.

Like our dog grooming process your cat will be groomed straight through in the privacy of an enclosed suite. However, our cat-only grooming studio has its own cat tub, with shampoos and coat-care products specifically formulated for a cat’s pH. They are dried with moderately heated gentle dryers (never HV dryers used for dogs). All cat trimming services are performed on an easy to clean stainless table, no grooming arms or loops are used.

We are happy to plug in a pheromone adapter and provide tiki treats for good kitties as well.
